About This COURSE

Vlog-It! is a hands-on online course designed for young people aged 13–17 who want to get started in content creation. Across five weeks, you’ll learn how to plan, film, edit, and publish your own videos while building confidence both on and off camera. From generating ideas and improving your filming setup to editing content and creating eye-catching thumbnails, each session is built to give you real, practical skills you can use straight away. Whether you’re starting from scratch or already experimenting with content, Vlog-It! gives you the structure, support, and tools to begin your journey as a digital creator.

What You’ll Learn

This course is designed to guide you step by step through creating your own content. Across live sessions and independent tasks, you’ll go from developing an idea to planning, filming, editing, and publishing your own video, all while building real skills you can continue using after the course.

Week 1 – Getting Started & Your Channel Idea

Kick things off by understanding what makes great content and start building your own channel idea. You’ll plan what kind of content you want to create and begin shaping your identity as a creator.

You’ll learn:

  • How to come up with strong content ideas
  • Finding your style and niche
  • Planning your first video
  • Analysing other creators for inspiration

Start learning how to edit your videos using real tools. You’ll be guided through the basics and begin creating your own edits.

You’ll learn:

  • How video editing works
  • Cutting and structuring clips
  • Adding music and basic effects
  • Making your videos more engaging

Plan, prepare, and film your own video. This is where your ideas start becoming real content.

You’ll learn:

  • How to plan your shoot
  • Filming techniques and camera basics
  • Lighting, audio, and setup tips
  • How to record confidently

Build your creator identity and bring your video to life with graphics and finishing touches.

You’ll learn:

  • Creating thumbnails and channel graphics
  • Branding your content
  • Improving your edits with visuals
  • Getting your video ready for upload

Finalise your content, upload it, and get feedback to improve and grow.

Vlog-It! is designed for young people aged 13–17.

No — this course is designed for beginners. Whether you’ve never made a video before or you’ve tried a bit already, you’ll be supported throughout.

No — you can use a phone, tablet, or camera. We’ll show you how to make the most of what you already have.

A computer or laptop is recommended for the best experience, especially for editing. However, many parts of the course can be completed using a tablet or mobile device.

You’ll learn using tools like CapCut and Canva, with optional introduction to more advanced software such as Adobe Premiere Pro.

No — we’ll guide you through everything you need during the course.

Vlog-It! runs over 5 weeks, with a mix of live sessions and independent tasks once a week.

We recommend attending all live sessions to get the most out of the course, but support will be available if you miss one.

You’ll work on planning, filming, and editing your own content, with guidance and support available if you need it.

Yes — by the end of the course, you’ll have created and developed your own piece of content.

Yes — you’ll receive a certificate of completion at the end of the course.

Yes — you’ll be shown how to prepare and upload your content if you choose to share it.

Yes — Vlog-It! is designed with safeguarding in mind, with structured sessions and monitored communication throughout.

Yes — parents/carers are welcome to be involved and can join parts of the course if needed.
